017 has seen the beginning and the end of many design trends. Lets take a look at the ins and outs of the year that is quickly coming to an end.
One of the biggest trends of 2017 has been greenery, and lots of it! Last year was all about vertical gardens & this was the year of the fig. Whether it was fake plants, real plants, or plants in artwork- plants have been everywhere this year. This is no surprise – they add layers & a homely feel to a room. Not to mention the health benefits of real plants & the pleasing aesthetics of fake ones!
IN: The modernised eames chair
The eames chair has been reinvented this year. Not so long ago when people thought ‘eames’ they thought ‘bland’, but now eames chairs have had a big comeback. Eames chairs are now available in all colors, sizes, with or without arms, in fabric or plastic and some even have rocking chair style legs. You can always rely on the good old eames chair to work in a room & now there are so many ways to pack a punch with an eames.
IN: Tribal Prints
Tribal prints made a big statement this year. They can be worked into a room in so many ways. Cushions, rugs, artwork & accessories are all great ways to introduce this theme into a room & it has been done very well this year.
IN: Bed Heads
Bedheads have always been in & have always been a personal favourite of mine, however this year they were everywhere! They add a feeling of luxury, comfort & style to a room (especially a master bedroom). If you have enough room in the budget- this is a must in our book.
OUTS: Copper & Rose Gold
The copper and rose gold trend went out as quickly as it came. They had their moment in the sun, but coppers & rose gold are now no longer the statement piece, but better off as a minor accessory color.
